Second best

Amys_t

My first online clothing purchase is a huge hit!! I loooove my new Amy Ruppel T-shirt, perfect fit, perfect colours and well.... the birds!! I always miss out on Amy's little art pieces when they are selling so I thought a T-shirt would be the next best thing.

Here is clue #2... and that's all I have to say about that. Except that some of you are darn good guessers.

Clue2

And just a little thank you to those leaving lovely comments lately, I really appreciate them and even though I don't get a chance to get back to you all, I really enjoy clicking on your names and seeing what you are up to.... lazy me still hasn't got a comprehensive links list ...

Wallpaper parcels

Parcels

I knew I would think of something to do with all this wallpaper I have been collecting...recently I have been wrapping peoples birthday presents and parcels with it...nice. Other things collected recently are thrifted monkey pod bowls and platters (click on 'home accessories' then 'monkey pod' ) that were most likely handcrafted in the 70's (I can hear my mum shreaking all the way from Germany.."Oh god we used to have those back in the day"), a telephone seat crafted in 1978, a japanese bowl (pink and orange), very cute children's book without text and I rescued the giraffe (for the artroom as we are doing clay sculpture this term) from a plant nursery that is closing down.

Speaking of Germany, thanks to all of you who suggested such fun stuff for my mum to bring back...lets hope she finds some of it and then I might be able to share some ... I said might!

I havn't been doing much in the way of crafting lately but I can show you who has...here are some swapping goodies from Hope... stunning papercrafts, Laurie... lucky me... lots of adorable pins (don't you just love the way she photographs her work!) and Shell ... oh so cute kitten plus if you live in Adelaide you would have seen me sporting this new bag.. Thanks girls!

How much fun can you have with Fimo?

Just a really quick one to show some new things (to me.... you guys may already be in the know)

Two blogs:
eendar* and her stunning illustrations that you can buy on canvas.

The K Bear who also has fabulous illustrations.

And now for the fimo fun... Laurie's funky mod dot pins, too cute! and these My Guys.

If all goes well I might be getting a fun little monster parcel soon (they sell out really quick).

Kimono magic

Look what my mum got me!

Kimono

I can hardly contain my excitement .... just imagine all the cute little pouches I can make ..... These pieces are very small snippets (15cm squared) of secondhand kimono's... a shop in North Adelaide, Red Papaya?, sell little bags of them at a very reasonable price. I am going to do my best to match up some fabric I already have to make these pouches but I have a good feeling that I may need to go and look for some new pieces.

I just looked at the date and have a horrible feeling moopy bunny is going to miss the MOS deadline :(
I might have to use some of my precious 5 hours that I have alone tomorrow, while Moopy is at childcare, to finish her off rather than doing very important work and not so important dusting.

I wanted to share my new favourite blog, Learning Daily, I came across it ages ago but could never find it again until I started looking at illo friday contributions. I love Cindy's illustrations, I love the muted colours and her block print style. Here are a couple of her illustrations that she contributed to illo friday, Crowded & Fragile.

PS. Since I am sharing here today....here is some evil goodness that I have been slowly melting in my mouth. I was first attracted by the packaging (that's the silly graphic designer in me...always buying things just for the packaging regardless of whats inside) but now I have made the decision that if Chris were to ever leave me it would be ok because I would remarry HOT MASALA CHOCOLATE!! and frequently go on dates with pink peppercorn chocolate and occasionly meet with earl grey tea chocolate for romantic dinners.

Choccy

Fun packaging.... makes you feel as if you are being really naughty stashing your choccy in pouches ...like you are about to roll something to smoke.

In the Closet

Closet1

I have been meaning to show off some pics of the funky kids store that is situated infront of my artroom for a while now.

My artclass kids have almost finished their first project so there will be tones of pics going into the gallery soon... The ages range from 2 years (too cute!) to 12 years so it is really interesting to see the difference in the artwork over those years (as most of the kids have been doing the same project but at their own level)

Red & Orange

Fourup

I am cheating here as I havn't had a chance to do much in the way of craft over the past two weeks...so this is a picture of a few things that stand out in my studio (which is predominantly red with bits of orange and a hint of pink). Top left is an almost three metre length of Marimekko fabric that my fabulous Aunty gave me, top right is Moopy's felt dolly from ak which I steal from her often, bottom left is a little red suitcase which has a very awesome Catimini dinner set in it for Moopy (when she is old enough not to smash it...) a babushka doll, fighting cocks? and some vintage fabric and bottom right is a section of one of my screen printed cards I sell at Closet.

Moopy and I had the most fabulous day yesturday....we went on a massive walk all the way to the beach and on the way we saw horses and met a new friend at the playground. Then we got snacks at the supermarket and headed down to the beach to look for shells and Moopy burried pebbles....and tried her best to run into the freezing water. Then we looked at shops and took the tram home (well it stops a kilometre or three away) and found the best playground on the walk.... it was completely enclosed and had cute tiny toilets, a drink fountain, a sandpit (with fresh sand but I have bad memories of cat poop so that was a no go zone) and old equiptment that had been thoughtfully cared for, restored and made very safe (you know the kind with a metal slide, big long see saws and that spinning thing that about 10 kids can stand on and wizz around). And the best part were all the park benches for parents to sit at and knit....well maybe not every parent. I think I will have to put it on Playground finder if it's not there already. THEN we went to Kmart in search for a ball ...found it and played with it for what seemed like ages till daddy came home as doofus mummy left the keys inside....thats 9:30am-5:00pm and not one grizzle from Moopy!!! Phew.

More fun was had today too... Moopy and I picked Button up from work and we all went out for birthday lunch...HAPPY BIRFDAY CHRISTY!!

Finally (it seems like I have been sitting here forever as the broardband access cut out and I am running on dial up speed YAWN!) I have put up a gallery for all my postcards...it's not quite up to scratch yet but it's up all the same...click on the little pink postcard to your left

Charming

Palas_charm_cover

How much do I love Palas charm bracelets....another Adelaide gem. They are made from sterling silver and semi precious stones, shells, glass and other loverly things... I am not one for jewellery (I get a nasty rash) but I think this is going on the splurge list!

There are a few other precious gems making their way into the world at the moment (Hayley Rose is one of them), so I think this calls for some softy making...of the very soft kind. I have a particular bunny in mind that I have been thinking about turning into a more 3D softy for a while now (last year), she is named after Lily's nickname 'moopy'. I hope to turn her into something resembling this little illustration I did a while back and possibly add a few more flowers so she can be a May flower Moopy for this months MOS

Too many surprises

Today has been filled with packages and awesome bargains at the thrift shop. I think this has all happened today to make up for the rotten sleep I got. I was commenting to Fiona on how we deal with moopy in the bed with us and I think we got jinxed! Lily woke at 3am and refused to sleep! Now of course we're all in bad mood land. Lucky for me though I picked this up for 50c, I think I will plant chives in her......

Toocute_1

And Maggie link sent me this very cool notebook, you can spy some funky wall paper in the back ground (I am addicted to wallpaper at the moment?) that I also picked up at the thrift shop today for 50c. I always walk out of there with a boot load of stuff for no more then $5... Its the best way to spend $5.

Surprise1

We are going to attempt crochet at creativity night tonight....wish us luck...
the inspiration is coming from Camilla link
