Sooz emailed me with a really great way for some of us to help out with the Bushfire appeals. There are so many different appeals, which is fantastic because those people suffering need all the help they can get, but I personally was finding it hard to manage a new crafty project to make (even though I would love to) to brighten up someones day (even if only for a moment).... so Sooz had brought to my attention the idea that there would be hundreds of crafty people out there who would have lost all their stash... CRAP! forget the TV and stereo... what about your stash! Can you imagine all your craft supplies have vanished..poof just like that... Now I know people have so much more than this to worry about but if we can all just raid our own stashes and pick out some really lovely (not your left over crap) bits and pieces that would be useful to make something simple by hand... (remember no sewing machines etc..) I think it could cheer someone up and maybe take their mind off things for a minute or two.
So I was thinking a little bit of yummy wool, crochet hook and a pattern or some soft felt, needle, thread, pattern and a little fluff or a favourite piece of fabric, needle and thread.... you get the idea, small kits and crafty supplies... do you really need all four pairs of scissors..
OK so once you have your little parcels ready, (if you live in Adelaide only, Nest Studio, 16-18 Elizabeth Street Croydon 5008 will act as a drop off point ) you can find drop off places and mailing address' near you via Handmade help or email Sooz for more info. So go on! make a small kit, it will make you feel good and bring a little sigh of hope to someone who is experiencing so much devastation.
Of course the best help will always be cash donations :: you can do that at Red Cross or Salvation
Sooz has put a lot of thought into this idea, please read what she has to say.... because it is important that we understand that right now people are with out a place to stay or clothes or food... so if you have bigger donations you can make please do. It's just we all know that craft is important don't we. Nest Studio will pass on your "Restash a crafter kits" to the appropriate agency when the time is right.

Thanks so much for this Carly - a lovely post :-)
