Little bit of this and that
Working on a new poster for Nest Studio art classes and as you can see, in the meantime I procrastinated a little by making a new banner for Autumn.......
I would like to work on the banner some more using the technique I am doing for the children's book... Up there you can see the pen sketch that I then "coloured in" ... I bought a new WACOM tablet a couple of weeks ago but sadly I don't really like it... I just can't get away from my pencils and paper... I will keep practicing... it is like learning to draw all over again?? I'll be blowed if I waste those few hundred bucks!! Any tips...
I am also working on having this owl pattern ready for sale early next week, it includes two pieces of vintage fabric in assorted patterns/colours. I must admit I did manage to use the WACOM for drawing up the pattern and my new NESThandmade logo... see it up there..
That's it, back to work.

your new banner is so cute! I've seen your toys pop-up in several magazines lately, very cool.

The owl pattern set is a great idea! I love that it comes with fabric. And your new banner is awesome!

Wow that all looks great! The poster is awesome :)
Wacom tips ... try placing it in different spots to see where is most comfortable to draw. Adjust your grip on the pen to see what is most natural while still giving you more control than an ordinary pencil. Um, practice a lot! It took me ages to get comfy with a Wacom. You'll get more confident as you go along - the key is that it takes a while to get used to not looking at the paper! So strange!! But eventually your brain will catch up with your eyes and hand ;D I promise! Unfortunately, the best advice is to practice HEAPS and start off tracing scans of your drawings first - that will help your hand/eye co-ord.
love

hi!
i use a wacom tablet and yes, it takes a lot of getting used to but, i love it now. i would just keep practicing...it's not a replacement for drawing but, if you apply artbrush filters in illustrator, you can get some cool effects.
i can send you some of my drawings via email if interested!

mmmm Im no fan of the wacom. I seem to use mine as a mousepad, which is such a waste!! I just cant get used to it and seem to be 100 times faster drawing with a mouse. I know I should practise and play more as apparently they are so fantastic.

i use a wacom, to draw AND as a mouse sometimes. the thing i find frustrating about it is that there is no 'resistance' like there is with pen on paper. so, sometimes i place a slip of paper over the pad and draw through that. it helps to regain the sensation of drawing that you're used to!

it is good to hear your thoughts and everyone else's on the WACOM. I really would like to get one but I am reluctant to spend money on something I am not sure I will like or use. IF you end up wanting to sell it because it just doesn't work for you I might be intersted in buying it...I don't know. You see I can't even make my mind up!

Thanks for shedding some light on the WACOM tablet... I've been thinking of getting one, and lindsey's idea of putting a piece of paper underneath it sounds great!

Hello, Love your bunny drawing, I'm an illustrator myself and here are some wacom tips!!
for me it is the shiny hard surface of the wacom that does not please me. Sometimes i put a thin peace of paper on it, so that it kind of gives a rougher feeling to my wacom pen.
And i also make other brushes with photoshop that look like pastels when you draw with them. Take a look at my webside(in progress) I do almost all my coloring in computer. Love your blog!!
