Op shop chairs that are begging for new cushions... we can't sit on them at the moment because under all that nice fabric are only bare springs.. ouch... you see getting the cushions made will cost 40 times how much I bought the chairs for so we will just have to wait.

Ebay..... hmmmm

And here are a couple of sassy pics of my beautiful talented sister, yes I have a sister... we havn't seen each other for over two years.... I am not sure why... it's just one of those things... life is like that sometimes and well... I am completely giddy with excitment to see her again. She called me up and we made immediate plans for her to come over for dinner... I cooked ... yes, don't fall over ....(some of you may think I cook but I don't..I bake.. dinner is what Chris loves to do....) a roast pork rolled with spinach, ham and lemon...very french. Anyway we talked and laughed for hours... she read Lily a bedtime story ...my heart melted...gulp, tears are welling up as I type.. I can't wait to see her again, we are going to make it a weekly thing.... I also can't wait to get out one night to watch her DJ the night away.

Thank you for the 'go ahead and print' on the postcard... I sent it off last night (well this morning...) I faffed around with all the info on the back.... I was trying to include all the countries/states of the participants... I had to look up what KY, IN, AR & VI were and where is Balgowlah? Oh that's where they are! The opening night for the show will be October 6 at 6:30pm for those of you thinking of popping in.

Chris has been studying like I have never seen him study before..... he is on the home stretch now to finishing his Med.Science degree.....only a few months.. he was well on the way to finishing it years ago but like all young carefree guys he decided surfing was a better option. Then Lily came along ..... and well, that degree seemed like a good thing to finish... I admire him so much for being able to get through it all with a demanding child and a just as demanding wife. We love you Chris xoxoox. What this all means however is that soon Chris will be on the hunt for a full time job (as opposed to that full on one he has now being Dad, student and lifeguard/pool op. at our local pool) and I will be spending most of my days with Lily all on my own..... I am really looking forward to it .... Lily is almost three now so we have a ball together.... making/baking/visiting/playing.... but some of the work I am doing now will have to go, I can't possibly stretch myself that far any longer. Our home will have to be super organised to cope with Dad not being around so much......

In the spirit of getting your priorities right .... here is a cushion I made ala Lisa while waiting for Chris to get off the computer.... my work was on the computer so I had no option but to get crafting to pass the time.

Lily grabbed it and put it on her 'new to us' thrifted reading chair....

Lily and I went to the markets on Tuesday to see if Little Tokyo had some new fun things... I took in a japanese craft book to show the owner what I meant when I asked for craft books.... sadly they had no craft books and don't look like getting any soon (where else can you get them in Adelaide?). but they did have this adorable apple or cherry fabric.

Ok off to work with me, my shop is suppose to open at 11am and I am sitting here my jarmies at 10am ... priorities?

Getting there

Morphe_postcard

What do you think? No really! I havn't sent it off to the printer yet.... I will sleep on it and then see if I 'see' anything not quite right in the morning.... then I should have them back from the printers in a week .... I hope! the deadlines are fast approaching... (that's SEPTEMBER 25 for those who need a subtle hint ;D)

Thanks for all your comments lately xoxox ... to answer a few questions: no, I didn't embroider those cushions and yes,  I would love to try it out ... when I do I will post up the book no. and pattern.... promise! And I am pretty sure I want to make Lily a pinny out of the fruity fabric... and the lovely marimekko is in my shop window as a backdrop for all to enjoy.. (well those who live here)

Ok now it's time to get back to work... I have this very big deadline for a client... I do graphic design work for a couple of big financial groups... don't get me wrong, I respect these people for paying my bills and feeding my family but one day I hope to not need them..... it's not exactly design work if you know what I mean.... they just tell me what they want and then I do it... then they change it ever so slightly 50 times ... grrr

UPDATE the Morphe II blog has been updated and for those in the exhibition.... the ever so important deadline and address have been posted there x Y x

Hello marimekko

Albatrossi

Looky what I found at the op-shop for $2! It's a 1967 'Albatrossi' print... I didn't want to look too excited in the shop, so I didn't open it out to see what it was until I got home... I just liked the colours & could see the word marimekko in the selvedge .. boy what a big surprise. And the black and red one next to it is very funky too but I don't think this one is marimekko...

More op-shopping madness..... a sweet little french blue glass bowl & fun salt container which will be good for storing all sorts of treasures.

Blueglass

Fruity fabric, wooden tray with a black melamine base and buttons..

Buttons_1

Poppy jar with wooden lid... surrounded by previous op-shopping finds... I love ceramic jars with wooden lids.

Poppyjar

And a huge pile of these 70's craft mags.... don't be fooled by the hideous cover... there are some real gems inside... "contemporary" embroidery.

And last but not least, we have been having such glorious weather here in Adelaide you would be forgiven for thinking we are in the middle of spring rather than winter.... so I have been on the hunt for a big floppy sun hat for Lily... The stores usually come out with all the summer gear around about now but it seems even we are a little early for broad rim hats... so remembering I had Amy's bonnet pattern, I whipped up (without really following the instructions... you won't see any cute little gathering at the brim... I forgot that part) this one, once again using fabric I got on sale just incase it didn't turn out... the bonnet came in so, so handy because we had gail force winds yesturday and the floppyness shielded Lily from all the dust in the air on our walk home from the op-shop. Here she is enjoying an orange after our big walk.

Sun(ny)day

Sunnydaypancakes

Have we talked about pancakes before? Lily just loooves pancakes... but I could never make them quite right (you know the kind you can bounce off walls, I can make those..) so we had to make regular trips over to various pancake houses so that Lily could get her fix. That was until this morning, hello fluffy pancakes! I finally gave in and used self raising flour.... and it seems that is the secret to light and airy pancakes.... that and I wisked the eggs and milk till they were frothy then added the flour and only mixed till everything was wet. We of course use lashings of butter and Canadian maple syrup... Lily was so impressed she said "Yah! Mummy's Pancake Kitchen" which happens to be the name of the pancake restaurant we go to (well don't have to go to now, thank god... that place is open 24 hours and your feet stick to the floor).

More glorious sunny pics.. Lily has on a dress I wore when I was a baby (see close up of emboidery... makes me want to get our my threads) and a skirt I made for her... I thought the cotton doily looked fun and was an easy way to add a bit of vintage to the modern style denim.

MUM!and friends(Jazzy & De thanks for the having me xoxo) please enjoy this... I love how young and sweet Lily looks here... she is checking one of the last walnuts from our tree to see if there are any morsels she can eat... no luck, they are all dried up.

Cooeeee!

Bib3

It appears I have taken quite a bit of an unplanned blogging break (three weeks, yikes!). But I am happy to report I am back and most inspired... I can thank Lisa and her adorable patchworking for that... the moment I saw that bib I grabbed my bag of scraps and got sewing... it was 10pm but I just had to finish before bed.. I didn't have time for patterns... you know that crafting urge (insanity) where you just need to get it done..no time for planning ... and I was only using scraps so if it didn't work out I was ok with that.

I just love it.. I like the organic shape... and the fact it uses up scraps... now I need my friends to start having babies so I can make more bibs.

Here are some little bits I brought home ... mmm lovely Liberty & funky Prints Charming (who have been picked up by Free Spririt... big congrats!)

I have also been busy organising Morphe II (I even got the first parcel of toys today... oh what fun!!) I am working on making this something worth looking at too... I will let you know when it's ready. Other exciting news is that I have been invited to exhibit my toys in an art exhibition in December, so it's go go go for the rest of the year. I promise not to leave you between posts for so long...
