Chairs & pears
These chairs are looking very lonely in the shop at the moment because their good friend 'the playdough table' broke his leg.... currently seeking new table... a good excuse to hit the thrift shops today.. it's funny how I call them thrift shops... a bit of blogger lingo really... here in Adelaide (Australia) they are better known as op shops (you know ..as in opportunity)
A sweet little pear painting a student did in class last week .... I am addicted to making them do fruit art... can you blame me... I bribe them with being able to eat it ...
Fiona and I went on a totally indulgent 'big girls playdate' last night....as opposed to Lily and Audrey's playdates where we barely get a word in edgewise. I can't tell you enough how much fun it was hanging out with a fellow crafty gal... we could have yabbered on till morning.... We had chocolate everything at Cocolat's new cafe on Rundle... (Lily and I discovered it during the Fringe festival... white chocolate cupcakes alround). The very friendly fantastic guys working there gave us some yummy treats to go home with... mmmm...
That table cloth up there was a special gift from my girlfriend Jasmin-no blog (but she does make funky bags, so I will have to convince her to start one so you can see them), she went to Loxton (small country towns have the BEST op shops) and brought me back a shopping bag of fabric !! pics coming soon.

Love the yellow chairs and I can't wait to see the new fabric and what it becomes!!
Have a nice night!

I have been wondering for ages what Op Shop meant. And now I know! Seems so obvious now that you've said.
Love the colours of the chairs!

I can't believe I'm about to type this, but I think I just about overdid it with the chocolate. Ha - didn't stop me from tucking into the delicious freebies tonight, though! :)

Yah country towns are a big ol' untapped resource for funky fabric, I think :) I will have to cruise some up here too won't I? That lovely pear is very inspired, the linework is really mature.

Haha, yes I always call them op shops too (I'm in Melbourne) ;) I have seen other Aussie craft bloggers adopting the term 'thrift store' too, insteresting linguistic study there perhaps (I'm majoring in linguistics, you see ;) ) Although there is in fact one op shop near me that says on it's sign 'thrift shop'.

That pear painting is beautiful. I'd put that on my wall! Do your students sell their artwork? When I was but a wee lass taking art lessons in my (equally wee) hometown, I sold my first pencil drawing for $1 at a student exhibition. I was six and thought I'd died and gone to heaven! (And it was *not* bought my a member of my family, either.)
