Love is in the air

Kissing_kitten2

I have made a couple of new toys for the shop.... and you get first peaks at them. I really loove the heart pattern retro tablecloth that I used for the kittens.. it has taken me almost a year to get up the courage to take scissors to the (apple & heart) fabric, but I think a special valentine sweetheart is a good enough reason. I have saved just enough to hopefully make Lily a skirt... (I think that will be my first project with the overlocker instead).

My brain is consumed with ideas and thoughts for a couple of fun projects that I am doing with some talented girls and I just can't seem to concentrate on much else (this post included). I hope we get started soon so that I can share more details... And for those doing 'Afternoon Tea' my big hint for the goodies I am making is 'Narnia'..... mmm I wonder what that could be?

I heart porcelain

Glass_ring_by_natacha_

Firstly I would like to thank you all for those cheery messages today, Ta. I didn't mean to sound like I was fishing for them but they sure did lift the spirits.

The gorgeous porcelain glass and ring you see are from the very fantastic Natacha ... arn't they the prettiest! She makes so many beautiful ceramics and you can buy them from her online shop. You may have noticed them in a few pics from the Morphe exhibition.... so if you are in Adelaide, you can buy rings, brooches, glasses and vases at Nest Studio (aren't you lucky!)

Some of you may know that my knitting prowess goes no further than a bobbly hat .... but that is all about to change. All I can say is AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE OI OI OI! come and join the knit olympics... team Canada and USA already have banners! come on Aussies!

There is a sun fairy in our garden

After our longest and hottest heatwave since 1960, we went down to the beach for our regular late Sunday afternoon stroll with Button & Mr M and on this special occassion another dear friend, Jasmin (no blog... ha I could call her Jasmin No Blog) came with a delicious chicken salad for us to share. We enjoyed the coolest of sea breezes, a dip in the ocean, that was still warm from days of temperatures over 40 degrees celsius, and then the outdoor cinema on the grass (they were screening 'Finding Nemo').

The picture above is of Moopy posing in her fairy outfit that Button so kindly handed down from a very memorable new years eve party (from many moons ago when we were single and silly). This photo really cheers me up after a horrid sequence of events over the weekend, where by my purse was stolen and consequently many important errands could not be made..... I hate losing things and it takes me forever to get over the loss... I can count on my hand the things that I have lost in the past... crazy I know, I should learn to let go a little.

And the winner is...

Monica! for being the blogger with the most patience ever. What?, you thought you were, nope Monica has been waiting for her kitten (our swap) for 6 months! Why, how long have you been waiting? The self loathing that goes with not sending out mail for THAT long is punishment enough, let me tell you. I have figured out how to put one picture up, and one only, without everything dissappearing so you will just have to go over to Flickr to see the rest... There is a picture of Moopy's cubbyhouse behind Monica's kitten, which happens to be my favourite one yet because it is made with Julie's very fun Cloth fabric and some linen.

And something fun to play with... a little addictive! Click on 'click to play' Also see real life dot photos over at Littlestflower

Confession 1/1

Scraps_2

*updated with pic*
Once again I am frustrated with getting a post up.... I can't get anything to work except maybe this text? I have now typed out three posts and had them disappear ... now I can't even get images to show up?? I wrote all this fun stuff about what I had been up to over the last week ... wedding... my birthday... sewing all my scraps of fabric together (that is my confession right there: I keep all my scraps in hope that one day I can use them for something really fun and creative??) Now I am cranky and think a glass of vino (or maybe even gin) and the TV are a far better option. sorry. I will try and get this all happening tomorrow so that I can once again share my crafting adventures....Sadly I may have to face facts and finally say goodbye to my friendly G3 and boot up the laptop :(

ooh how could I forget!! My dearest friend, button.squarespace.com (Christy, sorry I can't bare to try and link anything right now) is moving to Brisbane... Yes I cried... lots... we have been through three, YES 3! university degrees TOGETHER (not to mention years and years of wonderful adventures) and now she is going to leave me.... She has tried to soften the blow with a very generous birthday gift ... AN OVERLOCKER... I am pretty excited about the prospect of sewing up some funky clothes... maybe a shirt would be a nice start? I have to figure out how to use it first...

A side note: I got to use two of my "Good deeds" note cards on Friday... 1. The lovely guy who runs a catering business (bakes up a storm for the Queen & Duthy Street Cafe's) next door to me, (at the shop) emptyed all my bins for me... twice! now that is a good deed. I hate emptying the bin. 2. Our friendly (but somewhat unknown) neighbours dropped off a huge bag of the most delicious big lemony lemons... YUM

Just what I need right now for that gin, a slice of lemon. Cheers.

Good deeds 2006

Gooddeeds

Hello there? I feel as if I have never posted before ... Typepad has updated their system and left me far far behind.... I have already typed out a post and had it disappear... I was hoping to wish the internet world a happy new year in the actual new year but day four will have to do. You see I work on a dinosaur G3 which has no tolerance for new fancy schmancy software, but after much stamping of feet and chocolate consumption, I think I have a winner using this old version of netscape...? Sadly my computer is in desperate need of an upgrade and I was lured by cheap PC prices ... Yes! .. I caved and bought a laptop, it is gathering dust already as I milk my beloved Mac for all she is worth (a bar of soap). As I sit here and look at an empty choccy wrapper I notice they are giving away iPacks, one can only hope. I will probably win the free movie ticket to see Narnia (which I paid to see last night), I wouldn't mind ...  as I thoroughly enjoyed watching it the first time.

The above good deeds note paper is something I made for Christmas presents last year (as in 2 weeks ago)... I found a 1953 children's annual in an thrift shop with that adorable little girl, so decided it would make great thank you notes ... I used my trusty gocco to whip them up... I took a photo of the left overs, the ones that were not so perfect, but I like the rough edges.
