That's a wrap

Nest Studio art class kids had their exhibition on Sunday.... I love seeing their proud little faces as their parents, friends and family look at the artwork. I think I have said this before.... I don't encourage outcomes based artwork in my classes, that being said it is very important for the kids to have their work displayed in a meaningful way so that their efforts are validated.... plus they get to see their work in a new way and amoungst their peers. Here is a little peek at some sculptures from last term... I will post up this terms mural when I get a good shot of it. (The work here was done by kids aged 3-8)

Big applogies

Right when I thought I was actually running on time for something.... Typepad decided to do maintenance (all night!!!) and I couldn't inform the internet world as to where you can look at Morphe toys which have not been bought yet in Adelaide. So lets start this again..... right NOW (quick click the link now before you miss out) all the pics and prices are on Flickr. I will email you back tomorrow night 11pm (instead of tonight) if you are the lucky winner and organise payment and postage...but remember first in best dressed.

Icecream, lollies, bouncy tiger...

face painting, umm lollies... oh, did we mention Father Christmas... who cares really when you have lollies!! Lily went to her first Christmas show on Sunday with Oma and Opa (we braved the 38 degree heat), she cried as soon as we ventured even fifty metres from the performing clown... not a good sign we thought, for when the man with a beard and red suit rocks up! After much hestitation in the begining, we couldn't remove her from the bouncy tiger... I literally had to get in there and drag her out (like a bouncy castle only a tiger) and when Father Christmas arrived all was well because she saw he had lollies... and gee that is all we've heard about for the past 48 hours.., more lollies mummy!!! And if you ask what she did at the Christmas party there is no mention of Santa (or her new dolly) ... just the blessed lollies ... I thought I wouldn't dare ask her what she wanted for Christmas in fear the answer would be BOUNCY TIGER MUMMY! I needn't have worried because the reply was LOLLIES! deprived child or what?

There are more Morphe photos going up tomorrow in Flickr and on December 16 at 11pm my Adelaide time, if there are any toys that have not been snatched up by Adelaidians, they will be available here on the internet. So get in quick, I know of a few people who are hanging out... the first emails I get are the first people to get them. I will email you back the following day 11pm my Adelaide time if you are the lucky buyer.... remember ALL proceeds go back to the artist :D

Here is a photo of the inside of my shop window... while taking the photo I discovered something very special, that I couldn't see just standing there. Can you spot it? I will have to go to the council to find out some more history.

Schools almost out

And that sadly means it is also the end of term 4 art classes. The children and I have the end of term exhibition in just over a week.... so much painting to finish... The kids have been busily painting a mural this term (between down pours of rain and then souring heat?) at the local train station underpass. I have been reluctant all year to post about art class because I don't want to freak out any of the kids... knowing thier work is on the internet for all to see, especially if we are half was through work. But I must show you this darling painting, it was created a month ago by a few three/four year olds who had just read Eric Carle's book 'Ten little rubber ducks'. It is my absolute favourite piece of art for this year (don't tell any of the other kids they might get upset because of course I love all their work!!!).

I have had a blast teaching all my kids this year... hear that, my kids!.. I have fallen in love with them and will miss them terribly over summer. I hope they all come back... I will have storytime with a little art session every now and again in January so they don't forget me. (If you are in Adelaide pop in on Fridays at 2:30pm ... any age welcome.. discounted for the holidays too!) All my art lessons begin with a picture book... the art in picture books are so inspiring, so there are always ideas floating around for the art making part of the lesson. In honour of our love for picture books next term (term 1, 2006) the kids will be publishing their very own picture book for Nest Studio art classes!!! YAH! I love that idea.

My favourite thing that I have taught the kids this year would have to be summed up by little Oliver saying to me last week when I got out that weeks story..said in an excited toddler voice.."Is that an Ewic Carwle book?" and it was.

Tada!

I don't think I need to say much here because the toys speak for themselves. In a few hours the million and one photos can be seen here. Enjoy. I am going off to sleep now. night night.

Thank you for all the well wishes by the way... look who else has a new shop! and look who's having a baby! Congratulations girls.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder?

Hi!

Gee, when I said Bon Voyage I meant the toys not ME! Sorry to keep you all in the dark so long.... I hope you understand. I think I may have bitten off a little more than I can chew, setting up a new shop with and exhibition while running art classes is possibly a bit crazy... I have been working around the clock (big hugs to Chris for taking on the role of Mum and Dad at the moment) trying to get things organised. Some relief came on Friday when my scratched up window was replaced... now my signage can go on.. phew, just one day before the big day....

What you don't know what the big day is? MORPHE! opens this Tuesday at 6pm at 18 Elizabeth Street Croydon South Australia (Nest Studio), come and enjoy! If you can't manage the flight over then don't worry it will all be on the fantastic Flickr (pop back here for the link). While I have been setting up and not wanting people to peak at the mess, I have had Julie's stunning textiles in the window.... they have certainly been creating a buzz.

Can you see it behind the reflection....

Here is a tree that sits in front of my shop, it has a really lovely mosaic base.

A million more photos to come... and I will do my best to get neststudio.com running properly with an actual layout that works with real pages etc... but it might a while.... I miss Lily and think some family time will be needed for the rest of the festive season.

My appologies to any people who are missing swaps or mail or email... it will get to you soon:D
