Leafy Seadragons

One of my little art student's has a very talented dad who is just about to release a fabulous new picture book called 'Seadragon sea' along with the author, Margaret Spurling. A perk of being the art teacher, I got my (well actually moopy was given it but I am stealing it from her for a few days) very own preview to keep! Here is a sneak peak at the cover illustration..... of course my photography does the artwork no justice. If I am not mistaken the Seadragon is a South Australian native.... along with all the other cute creatures in the book.

And I have just added this hat to the swap shop.... I was so upset when I realised that it was too small for chris... he picked out the wool and was really keen for a beeny but as you can see it is munchkin sized...I added the flower brooch after of course!

Check it out!

I am so excited to introduce you to my swap shop..... I have put up a whole bunch of things that I make, you can take a peak and then if you really like something you can swap with me. Let me know what you think?... and if there is something that needs tweaking...cheers :)

This is the type of stuff that pops into my head when I am supposed to be working... I did however manage to get all my mail outs done today so I thought I deserved a break.

This is my june bug (made during a big procrastination session last night .... supposed to be working) So no more chatting ... back to work!

Moopy's new bobbly hat

Lilys_hat

Moopy is on a mission by the looks of things.... she has her hat, her scarf, her buckets? and back pack... off to child care I go go GO! (She likes to say 'go go GO!' when we leave the house) Her vocab has been expanding in leaps and bounds over the past two weeks.... I am not to sure if it's coincidence or just simply her time for new words but they are coming in thick and fast 'home', 'please', 'tea', 'cat', and 'papia??'all in the last few days....it's very exciting for us. She is also sitting contented to play with crayons, playdough etc. for longer periods of time (as apposed to running around transforming our home into a demolition zone)...even more exciting!!

So I finally completed a knitting project.... Moopy's bobbly hat (which is a compromise on a hat I would rather have made from a pattern but it cost so much for the whole book and I only wanted one pattern...so I made it up) and semi-matching scarfe. It appears I took forever to knit that tiny scarfe but in actual fact I re-knitted it 5 times trying to decide on a stitch that didn't curl or look too large...

I may not post for a while now as the end of Nest Studio's art classes for children, term 2, is coming to an end and I have a rediculous amount of work to do......prepare the kids exhibition, flyers for term 3, orders of softies and a big client deadline....AAGGHH! I hope I get to fit a June bug in and an apron.

How much fun can you have with Fimo?

Just a really quick one to show some new things (to me.... you guys may already be in the know)

Two blogs:
eendar* and her stunning illustrations that you can buy on canvas.

The K Bear who also has fabulous illustrations.

And now for the fimo fun... Laurie's funky mod dot pins, too cute! and these My Guys.

If all goes well I might be getting a fun little monster parcel soon (they sell out really quick).

Mr frog

Moopy has been getting up really really early (5:30am!!!) so what better thing is there to do at this hideous hour than make new felty things. A frog friend for the monkey, who is trying to catch a bug off his scarf for breakfast... (it is officially scarf weather here) And two little egg warmers that are also essential winter attire for any egg that knows whats good for him.

Motivation

I always feel my most crafty on a Thursday night because I teach art classes on Friday and am keen to have new stock in the room for the mums to look at, so tonight I created a new softy .... I am quite chuffed (except the legs are too wide) with my efforts... I asked chris what it looked like and he said 'a monkey' and I was very relieved as it is infact a monkey.

The beaureau that my monkey is sitting on is an awesome $5 find at a garage sale yesturday.... I love the idea of hiding away mess.... and of course I fully intend to write lots of mail from it (I love the key too)

Over the next few months I am going to re-design moopy's bedroom mural and paint something a little more suited to her personality (now that we know her a bit better). The mural that is there now, I think has served its purpose but was painted before she was born and as expected my tastes have changed over the past 2 years and I am begining to really dislike it.... notice faults which bug me... I was one of those silly art students who threw all her work away after a few months (maybe a year max.) because I no longer liked it... I bet I would appreciate some of them now!

So here is a photo of most of the mural and a photo of one of the bugs from a mobile that my dear friend Jazzy made, that inspired the bug theme.

The lucky one

Moopyanddaisy

The suspense is finally over... Daisy has traveled along way (most likely 12 hours or more) so Hillary made sure she had plenty of crafty and yummy supplies! Lucky me! Although I think Daisy got stuck into the lemony treats? Check out how beautifully she was packaged

Loot

It's hard to say but I think this is my fave

Closeup

The whole family was in such a horrible rush the morning the posty arrived with the fantastical parcel, so I lugged everyone and the parcel into the car ....dropped off Dad at Uni then (because I am no good with suspense) Lily and I giggled with glee as we opened it in the car....Lily instantly snatched Daisy and gave her a big squeeze...then I almost peed my pants as I found all the other wonderful goodies.

And as for that swim Chris and I planned last week ...well.... Chris has caught all of Lily's nasty childcare germs so being in the water would have been no fun....so we went for a really long walk along the Torrens (river) and saw these little cuties (I paid a coffee shop owner $4 to have his TV remote batteries so I could take a photo).
